ORBIT
Live
»Orbit« is the dream pop project of 26-year-old music producer and songwriter Marcel Heym. With a soundscape shaped by a mixture of raw acoustic sounds and atmospheric synths, »Orbit« combines images of life in the countryside with a longing for a higher goal. On 24 April, we are presenting a live concert by the band around Marcel Heym, Morlin Baginski and Nils Oswald under the large dome of the Zeiss-Groβplanetarium.
At the age of seventeen, Marcel Heym gained international stage experience with his first rock band. As teenagers, they played shows in Shanghai, Los Angeles and London, as well as at the big festivals in Germany. After becoming a music producer in his early twenties and moving to Berlin, Marcel realised that he could not find happiness in the noise of the urban jungle. He fled back to his home town and started the first music project of his own.
Rather than being a shiny new product of the music industry, »Orbit« has increasingly evolved into a multi-dimensional space for creativity, forming a real community on and off the internet. Without the help of major labels, Marcel and his friends have formed a collective that realises various projects, including artworks, videos and hand-made merchandising articles. In spring 2021, alongside the last release »Summer Someday«, Orbit called on its fans to help organise concerts in their home towns. A few months later, Marcel and his friends were playing over 20 shows at private festivals, in wild woods and back yards across the country. The tour soon became an expedition into the depths of German independent culture and a movement of genuine human connection.
