Working groups
Would you like to delve deeper into astronomical topics and exchange ideas in a group? Or would you like to get involved in a voluntary project for the facilities of Stiftung Planetarium Berlin? We look forward to your active support and participation in our working groups. All ages and levels of knowledge are welcome.
Please note: A good command of the German language is necessary in order to take part in our working groups.
»Astronomical Working Group« at the Archenhold-Sternwarte
This working group is suitable for all age groups and also for beginners who want to take an in-depth look at astronomy. Topics include matters concerning observational astronomy, astrophotography, astrophysics and space travel. The weighting of the topic areas is largely determined by the respective interests of the participants. In cooperation with the group, the participants receive suggestions for their own projects, which they then implement independently.

Dates: The working group meetings take place at 6:15 pm on the 1st, 3rd and possibly the 5th Monday of each month in the Archenhold-Sternwarte.

»Library Working Group« at the Archenhold-Sternwarte
The new library working group, founded in 2020, is starting to digitise the Archenhold-Sternwarte’s library and archive. The aim is to make the facility’s valuable collection of books and documents visible and researchable online and to make the material publicly accessible.
The future open access library will be run under the supervision of members of the library working group. Cataloguing will be carried out according to international standards using professional cataloguing software. Initially, the catalogue will include the original publications of the Archenhold-Sternwarte, which distinguish the library from other astronomical collections. Core items of the collection such as “Das Weltall” and “Blick in das Weltall” have already been fully scanned.
